Detox

Come and reset your body, mind and spirit with our Detox program. Fasting is not starving the body; it is a great gift to your body by allowing it the opportunity to rest, cleanse and heal. Our bodies simply do not have the capacity to cleanse themselves of many processed foods and common ingredients in a typical modern day diet, resulting in a build-up of toxins in our internal organs and potentially a compromised digestive system. However, the body is a sophisticated organism and it knows what to do when we enable it to recover. Fasting can help to eliminate toxins, improve digestion, relieve ache and pains, remedy certain illnesses, improve the health of our organs and rejuvenate the whole body. Detoxification also has extended benefits over the mind and over emotional balance.  It reduces stress and negative emotion and brings clarity, concentration and vitality.

 

Detoxing at Vagabond Temple Retreat center is even more efficient as we are located in a rural village near the coast of Sihanoukville, Cambodia which is loaded with Prana (energy). There is no air pollution and we are set up and involved in a relaxing and energizing daily routine which enables the detoxification to happen without any disturbances.

 

The Detox program includes:

  • Unlimited fresh coconut water

  • Daily Reiki healing session

  • One Khmer traditional massage (for programs of three days or more)

  • Specialized yoga for detox

  • Breathing exercises

  • Health and cleansing teachings

  • Mental and emotional support

  • The retreat daily schedule

  • Daily meetings with your mentor to discuss any challenges you are facing, to learn about what is occurring in your mind and body throughout the detox process, to get nutritional advice and general advice about fasting and techniques to optimize your health in the future.

 

You can join our Detox program for 3-7 days. Depending on your requirements, history and objectives, we may recommend fasting on a graduated basis or several days consecutively. Your progress during the detox will be closely monitored and programs can be adjusted if needed. The fast may consist of coconuts, fruit, raw food or a combination according to your specific needs. Prior to the first day of fasting, each participant will have a personal meeting with the mentor in charge to discuss a personalized program, taking into account medical history, diet and lifestyle. Participants must arrive at least one day before commencing the detox and we highly recommend that you stay at least one day afterwards to make use of our ongoing nutritional advice.

Raw Food Program

When we cook, it breaks down the chemicals and changes the molecular structure of the food. During cooking, the food oxidizes and as a result it loses a lot of nutrients. Often by certain ways of cooking foods, such as overcooking or some methods of frying, we can even toxify the food we are putting into our bodies. Unlike Western medicine, which focuses on cures rather than prevention and encourages the use of medication and invasive methods to heal the body, the raw food diet focuses on long term, every day health maintained by nothing more than the ingredients that nature provides for us. It learns from the history of mankind as well as from nutritional science.

 

It has only been in relatively recent history that humans have begun to eat cooked food, suggesting that humans are not naturally predisposed to eating this way. Although we currently live longer, we live much unhealthier lives, with over 2 billion people in the world overweight, 200 million people living with diabetes, and a whole range of new diseases that did not exist when humans ate a natural, raw food diet. These health epidemics clearly indicate that our bodies are ingesting foods that our system is simply not able to process. This program will teach you how to eat well so that you are energized and full of vitality, your sleep patterns will improve, your body will gain strength, you will be more mentally sharp and alert, your chances of contracting many diseases are vastly reduced, your reliance on medication for existing diseases may be diminished, and your emotional health will be more balanced. Many people use this diet to deepen their spiritual experience as it also helps to bring inner peace and interconnectedness between the natural world, mind and body. Using both historical and scientific reasoning, you will learn what your body needs and how it can operate to its full potential.
